Syracuse Honor Flight
Saturday, June 1st
9:00am
On Saturday, June 1st Lockwood Lavender Farm will be selling (cash or check) Royal Velvet Lavender plants while the supply last for $5.00 each to benefit Syracuse Honor Flight. Our lavender market will also be open for the season every Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10 – 5.
Honor Flight is a not-for-profit organization, created to honor America's veterans for their sacrifices. Offering flights to our World War II veterans to Washington DC to visit and reflect at the World War II Memorial. Syracuse, New York is one of more than 100 established 'hubs' in the national Honor Flight Network.
In 2004 we had the honor of escorting my father a World War II veteran to the dedication of the World War II Memorial. Nearly 59 years after the end of World War II the Memorial was dedicated to our aging veterans. This was an experience we will never forget. With this fundraiser we hope to support other veterans with the same experience.
Royal Velvet Lavender has deep purple flower spikes and is hardy to our zone 5. It can be harvested fresh as a bouquet and dries well. The buds can be used for culinary purposes or aromatherapy.
