A quote from a letter my Dad sent to his brother on January 29, 1942
Now
that I am attached to a division of fighting men waiting for the command to go
across into combat. I feel very brave
and proud and wouldn’t want to be any place but with these men. They certainly have got plenty of spirit and
humor. I would fight right to the end
with these men. I wonder if the men that
fought in the last war had as much spirit and were as young as these men. They are from eighteen to twenty-three years
of age.
